Our bundle of 3 thoughtfully crafted Memorial Candles was created to honor remembrance with quiet intention. Rooted in tradition, this candle marks sacred time: an anniversary, a day of reflection, a personal ritual of zikaron. Refined enough for any space, meaningful enough for every memory. The wax is thoughtfully dyed to complement each vessel, creating a seamless tonal harmony between the candle’s interior and exterior.

Resilient and flowing. A famous reference to willow appears in Psalms 137, describing the Babylonian exile:

“By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept…
Upon the willows in its midst we hung our harps.”

This passage became one of the most enduring Jewish expressions of grief, memory, and longing for Jerusalem. The willow bends without breaking, which is why it often symbolizes gentleness, resilience, and the ability to carry grief with grace.

"My mentor from graduate school was the most special person in my life and there is no one to say Kaddish for him but I lit this candle and I cried my eyes out because it felt like I properly honored his memory."

– Alex V.

“The KISLEV candle is such an upgrade from the traditional memorial candles I’ve used until now. I used to light the candle and walk away after a minute. This time I had it on my desk and it felt more comforting to watch it flicker throughout the day.”

– Sarah S.

“I’ve used memorial candles for years, but the KISLEV candle feels different. It’s beautiful, elevated, and makes the ritual feel so much more meaningful.”

– Gila H.

WHY DO WE LIGHT A CANDLE?

Lighting the candle is an act of honor. It keeps the memory of the person alive and creates a quiet moment for reflection. It invites stillness, prayer, or meditation; allowing space to reflect on the legacy of your loved one. Judaism teaches that remembrance is active, not passive. A memorial candle is lit as a symbolic act of that remembrance; in essence to say: “You are remembered. You mattered. Your light remains.”

Rather than expecting grief to dissipate over the passage of time, Judaism provides a ritual that allows mourners to return to remembrance again and again. Not only a way of honoring a departed loved one, it is established as a ritual for the living.

Share your remembrance. Keep the light burning.

We invite you to share the ways you remember.

Yahrzeit is a deeply personal ritual—marked by light, memory, and quiet reflection. Whether you gather with family, light a candle in stillness, or observe in your own meaningful way, these moments carry enduring love and connection.

At KISLEV, we believe every act of remembrance holds a story worth honoring. We welcome you to share how you commemorate your yahrzeit—your traditions, your reflections, and the rituals that bring you comfort and peace.

Your words may offer solace, inspiration, and a sense of connection to others who are remembering, too.

Share your remembrance. Keep the light burning.
